Help!!! Dupont Circle? Where do we stay?
My wife and I are going to be in D.C. for a concert at 9:30 Club (815 V. Street N.W.). We want to stay somewhere rather close b/c we only 1 1/2 days. We would like to do minimal site seeing but what is most important is that we stay in a neat area around 9:30 Club that has pubs, good food and a nice atmosphere. I keep reading on other postings about Dupont Circle. Is that a good place to stay? Any recommendations on hotels there if so? Any advice would be much appreciated. If the place to be is not Dupont Circle, please help. Thanks a million.
Thanks,
Mike

Unfortunately, I don't know any of the b&bs near Dupont (though know there are some), but that definitely sounds like the area that would work for you. And it's just a quick cab ride to the 9:30 club (or you can take metro -- directions via metro are on the 9:30 club website (http://www.930.com/fs.php?x=800&ba=M...&bv=5.0&bp=Win)
though you'd have to switch from the red line to the green line, and given your limited time I'd just take a cab if I were you). I hope the show is good!

The Jury's Doyle is our favorite in the Dupont Circle area. We also stayed at the Topaz Hotel. The Topaz had nice rooms and fun atmosphere, but so-so service. We have stayed in the area twice and plan to stay there again on our next trip! Lots of good shopping, eatting and drinking.
Enjoy!

Dupont @ The Circle is a wonderful B&B. You are about 2 short blocks from the metro and they have parking in an off-site garage. The hosts and the environment of the inn make it all the better. This was truly one of our favorite places we've stayed over the years.

When I stayed just off DuPont Circle I had a room at the Barcelo Hotel (can't remember what chain it was affiliated with).
Great sized rooms, very clean and a very nice hotel. I believe (from memory) that it was located on P Street.

Yes, it sounds like Dupont is best for this trip.
All of the hotels suggested above would be great choices. I would add three other mid-range options: The Beacon, Helix, and (my favorite) the Tabard Inn.

The 9:30 Club is not in DuPont Circle and is a fairly lengthy walk from any of those hotels (although the taxi would be cheap). That said, DuPont Circle is your best hotel bet unless you want to stay near the Convention Center (which is probably closer to the 9:30 Club).
