HELP! Chattanooga traffic from Cleveland TN to Huntsville AL!
 

Today we drove from Cleveland TN through Chattanooga and to Huntsville, AL and back, taking I-75, I-24, and Route 72. The traffic through and around Chattanooga was the worst I've ever seen it and I used to drive there every day.
Here's our problem and question: Next week we'll be making the same trip, only we'll be driving a Gold Wing Motorcycle with a trailer behind it. We're NOT looking forward to going through Chattanooga again with this rig!! Is there a good route from Cleveland TN to Huntsville AL without having to go through Chattanooga? Maybe taking a southern route from Cleveland and then heading west?
(We've considered leaving at a time of day when hopefully there will be less traffic but on I-24 around Chattanooga I honestly don't think there IS such a time!)

The maps are certainly showing s mess all the way from East Ridge to beyond Lookout Mountain, I assume because of construction.

Could you get off on US 41 and drive surface streets to bypass this? 41 or a combination of 41 and 64 would seem to do the job if you don't mind driving a bike like that in traffic.

But it has been a long time since I passed that way.
