Help - Can't decide - Beach or snow
Trying desperately to decide whether to head for Florida for the week after Christmas or go to the Lake Louise area of BC. I know what to expect in Fla, but not in BC. Few questions: If you aren't into skiing, is the BC spot a cool place to go in the winter. Is it possible to see the Northern Lights from this location and is this a decent time to view them?

Not only is Lake Louise a cool place to go- its darn cold!! It is beautiful though - I think if I was planning a ski trip there though I would go a little later in the season when there is the possibilty of it being a little warmer.
I dont think there is much chance of seeing the northern lights at that time of year. I was just in Canada 2 weeks ago and saw the northern lights - we were in the prairies of Saskatchewan - it was not a brilliant display but they were there - pretty exciting |
Not into skiing, but do love snow, read on another post about the horse/sleigh rides, etc, sounded so nice. Is there anywhere else other than Alaska that the northern lights could be seen at that time of year.

Minnesota is a great state to go ice fishing, see the northern lights, as you requested, and... sheesh, a lottttt morrrrre.

The views in the Lake Louise-Banff areas are the most beautiful we've we've ever seen.
We stayed in Banff, so there were restaurants and shops for the evenings, and there are great buses to the Lake Louise and Sunshine Village ski areas. Although there's a;so great skiing in BC, I believe that Lake Louise is in Alberta. I'd always pick a skiing over the beach. |
