Help, Asheville Lodging
 

We are looking for lodging in Asheville in Sept. for $160 or less a night. We normally like Hampton Inns but have heard conflicting reviews on both the Tunnel Rd and Biltmore locations. Can anyone recommend either of these, or Baymont Inn, or others? A good B&B in this price range would work too. Thanks!

Being a local, I can't recommend either hotel. My general advice is to stay near what you want to see. Both areas, Tunnel Road and Biltmore, can be congested (especially on Friday afternoons). I would generally recommend staying near Biltmore because there is more to see and do in that area than Tunnel Road.

Try to avoid the last part of Sept since that is getting close to "leaf looking season" when hotels are hard to find and drivers get a little crazy.

I stayed a weekend in Asheville in June, and after a horrible experience at the Days Inn on Patton Avenue, ended up at the Applewood Manor Inn, you can see the very positive reviews on TripAdvisor. It cost $150 plus tax per night then.

Having driven on Tunnel Road I thought it was very busy and wouldn't want to stay on it. I had considered the Baymont also. But I will tell you I was thrilled with Applewood Manor, it was a quick drive to the Biltmore from there and a taxi downtown was about $5.00.

I like the Residence Inn Asheville Biltmore, within shouting distance of Biltmore Estate. When I plugged in three days the latter part of September, I got a rate for a 1 BR Suite for $149 per night. This place has a nice indoor pool, and we've stayed there a couple of times and found it immaculate, and with complimentary breakfast and appetizers most evenings of the week (with beer and wine.)

Thanks for everyones help. I will check out the Applewood Manor Inn and the Residence Inn. Hopefully its not too late to book anything.

Last year we stayed at the Days inn Asheville Mall and it was ok.Close to the Biltmore.Paul

I used the Baymont for my "cheap" rooms option for my wedding guests 5 yrs ago and my picky parents stayed there and were quite happy. We stayed across the street at the Doubletree so I don't have any personal knowledge.

I would definitely say try to avoid Tunnel Road!

Thanks everyone! I decided to spent a lot more money and we are going to stay at Willow Winds for five nights in September. I have read some great reviews on this place. I wanted a quiet place so I think this will work out fine. Let me know your thoughts on this place if you have stayed here.
