Heli Tour in Kauai

Hello,
have a question about heli tours in Kauai: how safe is it? I read that Inter-Island is a very reliable company and have not had any crashes recently, but then again, it's not like they would advertise their "crash info"...
Any advise would be highly appreciated. Also, if we do go, should we go on the tour that includes waterfall landing or not? We're going there in August and the weather should be nice. Please help!
Thank you very much.

I guess the answer is it is safe unless they crash. We did Inter-Island and it was super. We picked them because the helicopter didn't have doors and we thought it would be a better view. I don't see how you could beat the experience. It was great. I think you need to believe their statistics. I would do it again in a minute. Of course, shortly after we returned from Hawaii I read about a crash by another company. I don't know if I would have been brave enough to take a tour, had I heard about that just before my tour. We didn't do the waterfall landing tour but ours was truly fabulous. Enjoy!

We took a flight last August with Bali Hai, who at the time had never had a crash (since being in business 15+years)...well, they had their first crash the next month. We saw such amazing sights, taking that tour was the experience of a life time and with the dozens & dozens of heli tours going daily, we knew a crash was possible, but it's also possible on the plane ride from the mainland or in a car driving to work. It's a personal choice only you can make.

Hello

My husband and I were in Kauai last fall and did the helicopter ride with Inter-island including the waterfall landing and swim. WOW it was an amazing experience and the highlight of our trip to Hawaii. It was worth every single penny paid and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Even if the water was cold in the waterfall pool it was a wonderful private experience

AS for safety the day we arrived in Hawaii Bali Hai had a crash. Inter-island is the company called for search and rescue when ther is a crash. I wolld certainly highly highly recommend them and do to my clients regurlarly.

I have a full trip report, including Kaui and pictures of our Inter-island helicopter expereince on my work web site . Just email me at [email protected] and I will give you the web address.

We have taken helicopter rides on Kauai and the Big Island in the last few years and enjoyed them a lot. Shortly after we came back from the Big Island we heard about a helicopter crash. Here is the NTSB website that gives you details about aviation fatalities: http://www.ntsb.gov/ntsb/query.asp

You can limit the inquiry by location and to helicopters. As you can see, fatalities have occurred in these helicopter flights.

I hope this information is of some use to you.
