Heavy Snow Forces Closures in Rocky Mountain National Park

Old man winter is creating havoc in Rocky Mountain National Park. Not only are some of the roads closed, but power and phone outages have caused some of the visitor centers to close.

The road in Grand Teton NP opened today.

(a tangent but it will top this thread)

We got hammered in Fort Collins yesterday, at least a foot of heavy wet snow at my house. Eighteen degrees this morning now that the clouds have moved on.

Glad for the moisture of course.

Springtime in the Rockies.

Why Fodorites caution folks to have a Plan B if they are scheduling an ambitious road trip through the region this time of year!

We're wrapping up our month long stay in Colorado - we've had four snow 'storms' since we've been here. Got dumped on yesterday, but it's already melting and will be a distant memory in a few hours.

Bring it on - CO needs all the moisture it can get.

Nelson, thanks for reminding everyone to always have a plan B - weather is very unpredictable in the mountians - any time of the year.
