hearst castle

we are thinking of going and doing two tours. Does anyone have any recommendations on which two to take?

Thanks

I guess you mean whick tour (not two) to take. If I remember correctly they have a basic intro tour (don't remeber what it is exactly called) which is the one we took. We enjoyed it. I think there are more comprehensive (longer) tours as well, but the basic one was long enugh with us (travelling with young kids at the time). I think there are other tours as well, for those who have already toured the basics.

I've visited Hearst Castle several times. The most popular tour is the one that takes you through the main rooms of the castle, dining room, indoor pool, outdoor pool (I think it's #1).

I've also taken a tour that includes more of the gardens and one of the guest houses.

My favorite was the "upstairs" tour that goes to Hearst's private bedroom, library, bathrooms, etc. This tour takes smaller groups and is harder to get.

Have fun!

Do the main tour to get a feel for the entire place. I also did one that included the kitchen, which I thought was pretty cool.

Thanks. We were planning to do the mail tour but thought we might try a second one that day and were wondering which of the remaining 3 to take. I amm sorry if I was confusing but we would probably do 2 of the 4 available when we are there and wanted to know the other tour to take.

I've been to Hearst Castle twice, once for the "basic" tour and another time for the tour of the library and private quarters. I would recommend either, but since I haven't been on the other two I can't say how they might compare. Above all, make sure you make reservations before you go - the tours do sell out. Enjoy!
