hearst castle

Taking summer trip to coast and keeping hearing about Hearst Castle. Is it really a must-see? Can you see the place from the road or do you have to go on the tour even to catch a glimpse? Also wondering how long the tour is. None of my books say.

Tour 1, or the Experience Tour is $18 for adults. I think it's a must see. The view overlooking the grounds and the ocean is beautiful, and the pools are worth it all.

Hearst Castle is up on a hill and accessible by tour and their bus only.
The tour including the bus ride is an hour and 45 minutes.

Hearst Castle is definitely a must see if you're in the San Simeon area. It's incredible!

Oh, oh!! When I put in a date online for a reservation for May, I was given the ticket price of $18.

However - as of July 1st, adult tickets will be $24.

Yes, it is one of the must sees along the central coast. The website is actually www.hearst-castle.org I would recommend making reservations. Tour 1 is the best one for the first time visitor to get a general overview of the castle.
