I stand with the Healdsburg fans!

If you pick Sonoma, it depends on what you want to do. The Gaige House is adding some very nice Japanese spa style rooms which should be ready soon. Glen Ellen is small but you won't lack for choices of excellent restaurants. You're much closer to nice wineries near GE and up the road near Kenwood. Kenwood restaurant is also very good. GE is about 8 miles north of downtown Sonoma with its shops and great restaurants.

If you are on a tight budget and you have a rental car, you can stay in Santa Rosa in a nice place pretty cheaply. Healdsburg and Sonoma anre beutiful. I have cycled a lot in both areas and if you like, I can suggest some places besides wineries to visit.
Some places that come to mind are Russian River near Duncan Mills, redwoods near Forestville, the view from the top of Pine Flatts Road, etc. Have a great trip. |
Have you been to Syrah in Santa Rosa? We're considering it for lunch when we visit the area in March or April. ***kim*** ((f))
