Healdsburg or Sonoma
Trying to determine if I should stay in St. Helena/Yountville or up by Healsburg. We have done the Napa wineries (some of them, not all the way up to Calistoga) and I am interested in Sonoma now. Should I stay in Sonoma or venture to Healdsburg (would probably stay at Grape Leaf Inn). How far is it from Healdsburg to Sonoma? TIA!

Distances:
Napa to Sonoma 15 miles Sonoma to Healdsburg 45 miles I'd suggest staying in Healdsburg which is more central to the wineries in the area. Everyone confuses the TOWN of Sonoma with the COUNTY of Sonoma. When talking about Sonoma wineries, it's the COUNTY that people are thinking about. Healdsburg is more central to the county wineries, whereas the town of Sonoma is a bit south of the "main action". |
We stayed at the Hotel Healdsburg, www.hotelhealdsburg.com and really enjoyed this quaint, little place.
Take a drive to the Chateau Souverain and have lunch at the Alexander Valley Grille. They have a great prix fixe menu for lunch and the winery is beautiful. ***kim*** |
Healdsburg is a great place to stay and there are tons of wineries in the area. The Grape leaf Inn is wonderful- if you don't believe me, look at all the reviews on tripadvisor.com Not a single guest gave them less than 5 starts! You can walk to great restaurants and many tasting rooms in town.

We stayed in the Chardonnay room at the Grape Leaf Inn in August and it was everything I had hoped it would be.
