Heading to NYC5/11-5/13

Visiting Mom in Bronxville and thinking Friday afternoon at Botanical Garden and dinner at Arthur Ave - have never been to either. Thinking Robertos?

Saturday, take the train into Manhattan and play the weather and day in stride. Any great shows that may have tickets. Anything jump out during this magical time of year in Manhattan? Otherwise, we'll just walk or take a yellow taxi, or walk BBridge and eat pizza, or??? Anything shouting out this weekend from our fodorite manhatinites? Jazz, blues, farmers markets, festivals, really anything on the agenda for the 12th would be nice to know!

Thanks!

Thanks neighbor!

I actually read that thread and got very confused. After finding the menu at Robertos, I didn't find it cutting edge looking. I guess that will be our first choice as we wander the hood and check out the other places I've read about. Sounds alot like Atwell Ave in Providence - a lot of good and medicrity with a bit of local flavour. Will let you know!

Now as far as Manhattan????

The annual Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse will be going on. I thought it was fantastic. It's in a townhouse on 82nd Street off Fifth Ave., right near the Met. It's a fundraiser. further info: http://kipsbay.org/showhouse.html. Takes less than an hour to tour.

If you happen to have a Bank of America card, you can get into many museums for free, including MoMa, the Guggenheim, and Museum of Television and Radio. There are also a few "outdoor" attractions- Bronx Zoo and Brooklyn Botanic Gardens.

Enjoy! But do be aware that the weather reports are predicting rain on Friday.

Roberto's isn;t cutting edge. Arthur Avenue isn;t cutting edge. That's the whole point, traditional, old-fashioned good quality. Most everyone is aiming at the style grandma used to make - but best freshness and quality.

As for the 12th:

Central Park has a day of bird-related activities:
centralparknyc.org/

Gramercy Park is having a neighborhood festival

And if you go to the NYMagazine web site it has almost 300 activities of all types listed:

Fantastic tips everyone. That NYMag link will keep me busy! Thankyou!

Hairspray, Spelling Bee, Drowsy Chaperone and Avenue Q are the shows I recommend for Sat. Tickets are around $65 at Broadwaybox.com

You might also try www.nytourist.com site for info on festivals and other things going on all over the city this weekend.

Have a great time.
