HDTV or flat panel tv's in hotels yet?

I was just wondering if HDTV's or flat panel tv's were in hotel rooms yet... I have not yet seen one in hotels, except for the occasional lobby.

Of course, it depends on the hotel.

In 2005, we stayed at a Kimpton hotel in NYC that had a plasma HDTV in the room.

But, for most hotels, no.

We stayed at a Courtyard in Jensen Beach, Floria and had a flat panel in our room. This property is a little more upscale than most Courtyards.

My husband stayed in June at a hotel in Savannah well outside Historic District (Midtown) so unmemorable that I do not remember name. It's website advertised plasma TVs in each room and there were. He said TV was worth more than all the furnishings in the room.

I stayed at a Hilton Garden Inn near Times Square in New York that had a flat-screen tv (although I'm not sure it was HD.) Also stayed at the Hilton Aldwich in London which did have HD flat screen. I've had about 30 hotel stays this year and these two were the only flat screens I've seen.

The Wynn has one in the room and one in the bathroom!

I think all the Klimpton Hotels have them; I stayed at the Huntley in Santa Monica this year and they did, and I am staying at the Muse in a few wks. and noticed that they do also in their photos.

I think the Le Meridian hotel in NYC has them- have seen them in photos on the site.

It is defintiely cool.

What about actual HD signals? Having a HD-capable TV doesn't mean it's getting high-definition programming.

Any hotel that actually says they have HD service?

SpeedBuggy Aug 12th, 2006 06:49 AM

Yes, we had our first flat panel in May, 2004, one in each room, including bathroom - THEhotel, Mandalay, Vegas.

The Millenium Hilton in lower Manhattan has 42" wide plasma screen televisions, but I have no idea if they are HDTVs. The Ritz London also has them too.

indytravel Aug 12th, 2006 07:47 AM

The Conrad in Indianapolis has them.

"A 42" flat screen HD plasma television graces each guest room."

I'm going to stay there in a couple of weeks to check it out. I'll have to see if they have any actual HD channels.

The new Holiday Inn Suites oceanfront in Ocean City MD has two flat screens in each suite, one in bedrm, one in LR. I am staying there for a few days immediately after staying at the Muse, so it will be a full week of flat screen hotel TVs. A splurge for me.

It depends on the price and age of the hotel. If newer and upscale probably, if new and moderate possibly. Otherwise probably not.

The Ritz in Laguna has flat screens. I just returned from the Hilton Walt Disney and they also had flat screens.

just stayed at a couple of Extended Stay hotels and a Country Inn & Suites. They had full blown cable systems (not Lodgenet or OnDemand). First time that's happend in as long as I can remember.

Just booked a room at the Montecito Inn for next weekend... website says they have flat screens... will post a report after Labor Day Weekend.

Sheraton Waikiki had flat-screens.

The Cleveland Marriott. (Key Center)

plummie Aug 22nd, 2006 11:06 AM

The Marriott Residence Inn in Rochester, Minnesota of all places has plasma wall-mounted TVs in some of their suites.

Stayed this past spring in NYC at Athenee Plaza which had flat screens in the room and more recently at WDW in one of the newly remodeled rooms at the Disney Polynesian which also had flat screens in the rooms.
Don't believe that in either case they were HD though.
