Has anybody noticed that the miles necessary for a flight from the west coast has increased. It's gone from 35000 roundtrip to 40000 miles.

That what it's been with United's FF program for over a year at least. Guess Hawaiian is following the trend.

HA does fluctuate. The last time they deflated the miles, we were sent a big email. Something like " now for only 35,000 miles for a roundtrip ticket". In November when I bought my May trip it was still 17500 one way. Well, no announcement, they just slipped it up. That's business.

I just don't understand the logic of alienating its base with new competition coming into the market.

I like to buy a coach ticket and upgrade, but a Hawaiian upgrade is 50,000 miles, vs. 30,000 for United.

Now I am confused because the miles are back to 17,500. So I guess the miles charge daily?
