Hawaiian Large Family Trip

hello fellow travelers!

i plan a trip for my 27 family members every winter break. this year i've been asked to research the great state of Hawai'i. we prefer moderate condo/apartment style rooms or hotels, but we've stayed in all-inclusives (not our favorite). we range in age from 6-82 and being on the beach or very close is important to us. we don't need big cities or big amenities; we are our own entertainment! cooking facilities is a big bonus and we usually hire a cook to work with us for the week.

it doesn't really matter which island, to be honest, i'm just having trouble identifying places large enough to stay that aren't too luxury high-priced. i've looked at airbnb and vrbo already.

yes, i know we're a bit behind. nothing new there, lol.

suggestions?

My family did this in Lahaina on Maui. We stayed in condos at Lahaina Shores. We went to Haleakala one day and the Old Lahaina Luau as our big night out. We had a couple rental cars (our group was only a dozen people). We liked the hotel location because it was close enough people could walk into Lahaina on their own to look around, so gave a bit more freedom for everyone.

Several condo complexes are across from the Kamaole Beach park in kihei, and a short drive from many nice beaches. Very reasonable, near shops, restaurants, grocery, etc. Look at Kamaole sands, Hale Kamaole, and Maui Kamaole, for example.

The Kamoaole Beach park that sylvia mentions is a good place for large family outings, picnics, etc.

With a group that large, a realtor/ property management company may be more helpful.
