I am trying to plan the perfect 12 night trip for my fiance and I. We would like to do 2 islands and I am having the most trouble deciding between The Big Island and Kauai..we are definitely going to Maui. please help make my honeymoon a success.

Or should we do all three???

I would definitely advise against doing three islands during that time. And as far as deciding between the BI and Kauai,it just depends on what things you want to do with your days. Beach? Exploring? Hiking? Restaurants? Shopping?

My husband and I spent a week each on Kauai and the Big Island two years ago. While we had a great time on both island, we definitely preferred Kauai over the Big Island (we're headed back next month!). Kauai is more exotic, a little slower paced, and not nearly so touristy as the Big Island is. It felt like southern California with a tropical theme. <BR><BR>If you want more evening entertainment, a large selection of exclusive resorts and restaurants to choose from go for the Big Island. If you're looking to 'get away from it all' Kauai is a better choice in my opinion. <BR><BR>

Lisa did you feel that way on Hilo side? With such a short time I would skip kona side and focus on volcano and Waipio Valley, week on North Shore Kauai if you are going in June/July/August. <BR><BR>All three? I would'nt. I think it sounds like coming to the east coast and checking out Philadelphia, New York, Boston in two weeks you could do it, air time is similar would you want to?

We've been to both the Big Island and Kauai and think Kauai is the better place for a quiet time.Don't do three islands. Everytime you change islands you'll lose the best part of a day.<BR><BR>Be sure to take in the magic show "Warren and Annabelle's" in Lahaina on Maui. You'll love it. Book directly at the theatre and buy the complete package. You will have tons of laughs. Enjoy!
