Hawaii wedding attire
We will be attending a wedding in Hawaii next week at the Sheraton Moana Surfrider. The weather seems too hot for us to be wearing a suit/jacket/tie and formal dress. I've read that Hawaii dress code is more casual. Can anyone enlighten me on what is proper and acceptable evening wedding attire for Hawaii?
Thanks in advance! |
Generally aloha wear will be fine, for just about any occasion. Lightweight slacks or dres shorts with an aloha shirt whould do it for you.
|
mmmm, I wouldn't wear dress shorts unless all the guests were also tourists. Nice slacks and an aloha shirt for men, a nice light dress for women. Sundresses are also OK.

I went to a nude wedding in Hawaii one time.
We all knew who the Best Man was. O:) |
Kal.....you made that up! lol
|
Moi!?!?!?!:-O
|
And next, Mrs. Kal is even going to go along with you and say YOU were the best man! Sheesh...that woman, you talk her into telling us anything!
|
...........and she can get the 12th doughnut. ;) O:)
|
Kal, that was rather funny. it made my day.
Gecko - try a search: hawaii wedding attire there is a lot of info. But, you ought to check with other guests to see what is proper for that particular wedding. |
kal- was that the 12th malasada?
;-) And why aren't you attending the Honolulu GTG on May 18th? Don't tell me you won't be here by then...change that ticket! |
and regarding wedding attire- most likely no shorts at the Moana.
Slacks & nice aloha shirt (no, not the screaming loud one!) for men. A flowery dress or sylish Muu muu for women with strappy heels. If you want to buy one, try Macys (at Ala MOana), Blue Ginger (at ward Warehouse) or Mamo (also at WW). Even Sears has some nice ones. Go for more fitted and less frou frou if you want to look more local. |
Linen and great shoes.

Thanks for all the replies! Sounds like lightweight slacks and nice aloha-like shirt for him and a lightweight flowery dress for me. Perfect! Thanks again :)

oooh, lcuy, Kal always turns our loco moco fests down! I think he's afraid because he heard the last Honolulu GTG got out of hand. ;) May 17!
|
Icuy...please come to the GTG on the 17th. If you wait until the 18th, it will be over for a couple of hours!
|
Tuesday May 17th! I'll be there no matter what I write!
I am just so excited by the idea of having PPC help us choose the best dim sum that I can't even think straight! |
