We are planning on getting married at one of the Hawaian islands. Has anyone been married there and if so can they give any recommendations or experiences. Thanks

We got married on Kapalua beach Maui and stayed at the Hyatt. We used a wedding co-ordinator, Tracy flanagan at, A Dream Wedding Maui Style, 143 Dickenson St. Suite 201, Lahaina, Maui, HI 96761 1 800 743 2777 She will arrange anything you want, big or small. Everything was brilliant and I wish we were doing it again this year! E-mail me if you want any more info.

David, My wife and I renewed our wedding vows at Maui, HI, May 1998. We used "Simply Married" ph#1-800-291-0110,(e-mail [email protected] ) Rev. Ken Grimes or Rev. Judith Grimes will make your wedding just the way you want it. They have two ladies that will take pictures and video your wedding. They used my 35mm camera and my video camera and did an excellent job. They aren't professional but they really capture the moment!!! They had wine glasses etched with the our name, date, and location. Hope this helps, e-mail if you want any more info.

My wife and I seriously considered getting married on the island of Maui at the Grand Wailea Resort after we had stayed there previously. They have a fantastic chapel there and the resort is excellent. Check it out at www.grandwailea.com. You can request a wedding brochure from the website.

The Kona Village Resort has wedding packages. Check them out at http://www.konavillage.com It is really a nice place and the big island is a great place to visit. You could marry there, spend the required night and then explore the island visiting B&B's which are fun with a stay at the Volcano House in the new wing. The view is wonderful with the changing light. This could be a real adventure.

My fiance & I are getting married on Kauai on May 9th. We're staying at the Hyatt Kauai and their wedding coordinator is arranging everything for us. The ceremony will be performed on the grounds of the hotel. We will pick a site when we arrive. Some possibilities are the waterfall, the lagoon or the garden setting. The Hyatt Kauai is one of the top-rated resorts in the world. A co-worker who goes to Kauai every year has told me that the Hyatt's grounds are just breathtaking. It sounds like the perfect place for a wedding. It's not the cheapest place to have a wedding in Hawaii, but it's still cheaper than a huge wedding at home. It's costing us about $2,500, but that includes professional photography, edited video, Hawaiian guitarist, cake, champagne and a few other things. If you're interested call Ella Long at the Hyatt @ 808/742-6233. Many Hawaiian hotels have wedding departments, so if you find a hotel you like, ask for their wedding coordinator. You might want to consider the Marriott in Kauai, Grand Wailea or Kea Lani in Maui or the Kona Village Resort in the Big Island. Of course, those are all pretty pricey, so it depends on your budget. To the person that posted: Advertising,Advertising,Advertising People post questions here to get detailed advice from people who have been to the places they ask about or have inside info on the topic thay ask about. How can people give detailed answers without talking about the Hotels, Restaurants, Service providers. It is not advertising when the person giving the info does not get paid for the info. It is shared information from one fellow traveler to another. So get off the anti advertising wagon and get a life and leave the rest of us alone, we do not want you here...

Speaking of Kauai, do they still have weddings at the beautiful Fern Grotto up the Wailua River? The natural amphitheatre with all of the vegetation all over? hic....

Saw two weddings last week on Maui. About 10-20 people on the grass 2 hours before sunset at the Sheraton, Kaanapali Beach and just the bride, groom, minister, and photographer at sunset on beach at my hotel, Kaanapali Beach Hotel.
