Why don't you try a pkg. vacation to Hawaii? I always get a much better deal that way. It includes air, lodging, & car. Contact your travel agent or Pleasant Vacations, Aloha Airlines Pkg, United Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines are all good. Your T.A. is a good start.

I think you're smart to stay on the Big Island for the entire time. We've been there at least four times, with our two kids, and stayed two weeks each time.

I think you need a condo with the kids, and can highly recommend Sea Village condos, which are just south of Kona. They are nicely decorated units, and most have wonderful ocean views. There's a small pool, free tennis courts, a pretty garden courtyard with free barbecues, free parking.

The units are individually owned, so you will find them listed in many places if you Google Sea Village. We have rented through Donita's Vacations in the past. I did one quick search for 6 nights, at the end of May, and right away found a one bedroom/2 bath oceanfront unit for less than $1200, including cleaning, taxes, even travel insurance.

Jeez, that's a long link!

Sea Village is a nice, low-key place, right at the water's edge. The shore below is rocky and not usable, though the Disappearing Sands beach is close by. There are about eight three-story units that ring the courtyard. Very well kept and managed. We've stayed there three times, on a top floor unit directly over the water. Love it there. Can't beat the price.
