Hawaii Timeshare Purchase (resale)?

My husband and I are considering purchasing a resale timeshare. Several available happen to be ones we are NOT familiar with so I'd appreciate any opinions you have on these:
Kona Coast II (Big Island)
(this one puzzles me because there is also a Kona Coast I ??)
Paniolo Green (Big Island)
Makai Club Cottages (Kauai-Princeville)
Any info good and bad is appreciated.
Marcie

We have Embassy Suites in Maui. Very nice resort and has buying power with RCI. Got seven bonus years when we signed, which means two RCI weeks if we choose not to return to Maui each year. WE put Maui in RCI exchange this year and will be staying at Embassy in Kauai in November--Thanksgiving week--in two bedroom! Bought a one bedroom and have upgraded to two bedroom most of the time. This year used our second week in AZ for beautiful Scottsdale resort and visited Grand Canyon. Just a thought when choosing a vacation resort for purchase. Remember -- EXCHANGE/BUYING POWER.
Marcie - we've owned timeshares since '84 in Puerto Vallarta, which we love, we don't often trade or bank. My advice would be to purchase at a location that you really like AND would want to return to many times. Exchanges often don't work out.

We have owned a 1 bedroom lockout gold crown unit in Maui at Kahana Falls since 1994. We bought it to trade and it trades like a champ! You need to learn how to work to maximize the RCI exchange system. We have had over 25 weeks of vacation from our 1 bedroom unit. We've never traded for less than a 2 bedroom unit and we are trading a hotel unit and a studio unit, so we've definately traded up. Most of our trades have also been to other Gold Crown complexes. We also get bonus weeks. IF you are new to timesharing, I'd suggest you check out www.tug2.net for the Timeshares user group. One of the areas includes recent resale sales information and also includes a section for posting resales. Check it out and good luck!

Marcie, I second Lisa's advice to go to WWW.TUG2.NET (Timeshare Users Group)as it has people on there that know an awfully lot about buying *resale* t/s. Study up before you buy.
