And a ship going from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean through the Panama Canal travels in an easterly direction.

And if you go due south from Detroit, you'll end up in the Pacific Ocean.

If you go due south from anywhere, including Detroit, you'll end up at the South Pole.

Quite so, db. i didn't make my point clearly.

The point is clearer if you ask someone, "What part of South America will you hit if you go straight south from Detroit"" And the answer is, "None of it--you'll miss it to the west."

I heard google earth has an add-on to "drill" through the earth. You go to a location, run the "drill" program, and pop out on the other side. I saw it once - pretty cool. And no, I didn't end up in China.

So in 100-200 million years, hawaii should be north or Japan (if it isn't totally eroded by then) and pangeia should be reborn but what will remain in the same general location.

I know stupid over broad question, but who cares it's jfl.
