Hawaii info needed

We are planning a June vacation to Hawaii for the first time. Our choices of properties are the Maunalani Bay Hotel on the Big Island or Kapa Lua Bay Hotel on Maui. If you have had any experiences with these island or properties please pass a note along.

Don't go ! It's full of Travel Agents !!!

Who is this wierdo JJones?

Anyway, Susie, it depends what you are looking for on the island itself. Maui has a lot more to do in a more concentrated area. The Big Island is a lot more spread out, therefore you'd spend a lot of your time just on the resort itself. Nothing wrong with THAT, but some people might prefer a faster pace.

I agree with Melissa. There seems to be some confusion in priorities. First, decide which island you want to visit. Then, and only then, select your hotel on that island! Search the many postings on both islands.

My husband and I stayed at the Mauna Lani Hotel 2 years ago and loved it. The service was great-far better than the service we received at the Ritz Carlton on Maui last year. The hotel is not as fancy as some others but it makes up for that in quality. The golf is great, and the Canoe House restaurant was wonderful. The hotel is right on the beach, too. The only disappointment was the pool. Its just an average pool-nothing spectacular.

Susie,
Take it from another Susie, and someone who is very picky! The Mauna Lani Bay is a really lovely little piece of heaven...I stayed there on my honeymoon...albeit 15 years ago when the place was new...but we had such a good time. It is a really great place for golfers. The rooms are nothing spectacular..but the service and the little blue covered cabana lounge chairs made the trip! We never left the place!
The Kapalua Bay is also a lovely understated place...We were booked to take the family there in March...but I made a few calls and found out that they have not finished building adjacent condos. I was going to hear a jackhammer outside my door at 7 am....Since I did not feel like vacationing at a construction site....We are not going there! If you are interested, I would call to check out the situation. Good Luck!
