Hawaii in September? What Island?
My husband and I are thinking of going to Hawaii for our 1st year anniversary and were wondering how the weather is in September. Also, any recommendations on nice hotels, or which island to stay at? We don't want to be some where to commercialized but someone beautiful with still lots to do!
Thank you!
Thank you!

Find a copy of GOURMET May 99 , The Hotel Issue. They list the readers pick for top hotels in Hawaii ( the Hawaiian Islands). I am pretty sure the weather is September will be fine. Are you going early in September? The trade winds die down in August so it might be hotter than other times of year. What do you like to do ? Are you inclined towards city activities? or do you prefer hiking and biking? Send the Forum details and you'll get good advice. Personally, I like Oahu and I loved staying at the Sheraton Moana...but it is pricey. ( I have alsoe gone to Kauai and the Big Island; both were gorgeous but too sleepy for me.)

Hi Sandra,
There's an awful lot to do on the Big Island - volcano watching, nature hiking, lavish resorts on the Kohala coast, funky towns and countryside to explore, historic sites...depends on your tastes. We like the ability to drive up into the ranching country and really get a taste for non-tourist Hawaii. For white sand beaches and basking, there are probably better places, but the diversity of the Big Island is really something. Enjoy!

Hi Sandra,
48 hours ago I was staring out my back door across the beach at the full moon on the water in Kauai. according to the locals the weather in Sept is ~60 lows & ~80 highs. My wife and spent a week there and wished it had been 3 weeks. We stayed at the Kaha Lani (they are condos on the east shore) very well furnished with complete kitchens. With a golf course on one side and a state park on the other thee isn't another resort within a mile of you but shopping is very close.
Whatever you decide be sure to stop and smell the flowers.
Aloha, Sam

Sandra...I think for my first time it would be a toss up between Maui and Kauai, and Maui would probably win! Take a look at the posting by, rkleppner(I believe). He just got back from both islands and stayed at the 2 properties I recommend above all others, the Four SEasons in Maui and the Princeville in Kauai. Check out the posting on the Four Seasons as well. They have lots of things included in their rates that many other properties do not. Feel free to email me directly for further info. Annemarie
