Hawaii in October!!
 

I would like to plan a trip to Hawaii in October. Is that a good time to go in terms of the weather. Where should I stay first, I'm planning on staying for 1 Week. Any suggestions much appreciated. I did a but of research should I do " Big Island" first?

Which island you visit depends on what you want to do and see. For example, one week on the Big Island would be perfect. You could divide your time between the west side (Kona/Kohala) and the area around Volcano.

But in order to get more help from experienced Fodorites, you need to give us a little help.
How much are you planning to spend for lodging? Do you prefer hotels, b&b's, condos, cottages? What do you want to do, what's important to you on vacation--beach activities, snorkling, sightseeing, hiking, nightlife, for example? Do you want every day filled with activities or do you want to just hang out and relax?

Weather great in October, although it can be warmer in the first part.

For only one week, do only one island. Why do you think the Big Island is where you should go?

What do you want to do? What sort of accomodations do you want? Will you rent a car? What sort of accomodation budget, in terms of dollars, are you considering?

With one week, stay on one island.

I agree. No reason to hop around in that short time. You can't see and do everything in one trip to these islands, so soak it up on one, and save a different island for your next trip. Big island is great and cheaper than the others. October is a good time of year to go. It's slow season, so you'll not be crowded by other tourists. Things may be even cheaper too, though nothing in hawaii is all that cheap.

I have had to change plans and are now planning on going to Hawaii for New Years!! Any ideas on the best place to stay? Should I stick to the " Big Island" as I had mentioned before?
