Hawaii - First time & Pregnant

My husband and I have never been to Hawaii and are planning a trip before our 1st child is born. I will be around 6 mo. pregnant when we go, so this will limit some of the heavy hiking and excursions that we can do. We are planning on a 4 night trip, so we do not want to island hop. We are looking for a relaxing vacation, restaurants, etc. We have been told to look into Maui, because the Road to Hanna is a day-trip that I can do pregnant.

Any suggestions of what Island we should go to? How does Maui sound?

Many people get car sick on the road to Hana. Not sure it is something I would want to do while pregnant. For 4 days, I would think just about any one of the islands would work.

I went to Hawaii when I was about 5 months pregnant and had a great time. We were on Maui for about 3 days and Oahu for 4 days. While we were on Maui, we did sightseeing, hiking, and snorkeling. On Oahu, we did a lot of sightseeing and a lot of beaching. I agree that any island can offer you a relaxing or an active vacation.

You should be over your morning sickness by then, but I still wouldn't recommend a drive along the Hana Highway, especially if you have ANY problems with motion sickness. I did this drive on a trip before I was pregnant and it was not fun for me.

Our favorite is Kauai - the Garden Isle, with Big Island a very close second - but we love them all.

With only 4 days - you really can't go wrong on any one of the 4 main islands.

Among my few regrets, one is not traveling more before children (the real meaning of BC). If you can, squeeze in 1-2 more nights.

Only four nights? That's short even if you're coming from the west coast. We have a 9.5 hour flight from Chicago to Honolulu, then hop to Maui. It's a 12-hour day.

Hawaii with a baby can be easy!

With only 4 days I would pick either Maui or Oahu. There's plenty to see and do on either island that is not too strenuous. Especially on Oahu because in Honolulu there are all kinds of interesting things besides the beautiful outdoors (Iolani Palace, Bishop Museum, Pearl Marbor, etc.)

As Tom suggested, you might think about Kauai. When are you planning to go?
