Hawaii antique shopping?
We are heading to Oahu and Maui this week and I would like to know of any good antique shops or malls here. Thanks!

Oh there are great spots. Kailua has the nicest shops. Then there are shops in Wahewai (I know I didn't spell that right. It's the town past the Dole Plantation heading back to town from the North Shore.) And then there are a few spots around the UH and Ala Moana Mall. You might also check to see if there is a show going on at the Blaisdale Center. And you can also find items sometimes at the swap meet in the old drive-inn theater in Pearl City.

I'll give you a mini-review:
The Hunter- a very odd shop like visiting a friend's fire-hazard over-stuffed garage. Many strange finds which I wonder if they are really valuable or not. Also has coins etc. Heritage- mostly household odds and ends with some jewelry. Some seems overpriced. Nice place though. Also in Kailua- Merlin's Treasures- last time I was in there I saw a fabulous opium bed. Old Pali Road Antiques - looks nice, haven't been in awhile. Vintage - haven't been in there yet. Mostly clothes and furniture. |
Thank you for your help! I hoped to have it in time for my trip but got that stupid computer worm going around and then had to leave before resolving it. We are heading to Maui tomorrow and it looks like the antiques are here on Oahu. Oh well, I will be back another time...

Just an update if anyone follows this thread for antiques. I ran across a shop in Paia I had forgotten about. Paia Trading Company. I collect majolica and actually found a great Victorian pitcher! Majolica is rare in Hawaii as most of the antiques are from China or Japan. Aloha!
