Hawaii air fare from Southeast US
Thanks to you all we are planning two weeks in Hawaii next July. The only days that are set are the 5 days on the Big Island near Hilo and then a week on Kauai after that. We have a few days to play with in Honolulu for Pearl Harbor - we can do this at the beginning or the end of the trip. What do you think? Would you go straight to the Big Island on arrival or spend the few days in Honolulu and then do the two Islands. I would assume we would fly in and out of Honolulu??? Thanks for all of the advice I have recieved so far! I am watching air fare and I most of what I am seeing is in the 1000.00 dollar range. Is this reasonable to you all - would you wait some time and see if it comes down? We can easily fly out of Charlotte NC, Knoxville TN, Atlanta GA, or Columbia SC. Actually, Columbia would be the most convenient. I am watching Kayak, but maybe there are other sites I should be watching. Any advice would be appreciated! I am really trying to research before I ask questions, but this has me stumped.

I have been a number of times out of ATL an LAX stop is nice.
Prefer direct LAX KON 4 hours www.konaweb.com for me last on Priceline.com got air car hotel princeresortshawaii.com Hapuna Prince 1 week 1 K pp all in awesome deal. Orbitz.com good packages. Have stayed over on the Hilo side in July it rained non stop Kohala Coast is BETTER dryer. ATL will have the best connections not a fan of Oahu too touristy for me... will be lots more $$$$. Good luck! |
Thank you so much for your advice!

We will just have to deal with the rain. The place is already booked and I am going to remain optimistic!:):) I am glad to see all of the vegetation - and I know that takes rain.

No need to fly in and out of Honolulu, unless you want to. I would do Oahu first then relax into the other two islands and fly home from Lihue. Keep watching kayak and with your travel being in July, I would wait awhile before booking.

You need to research who flies from your area. I know here in Seattle we can fly nonstop to any of the islands. No need to only use Honolulu as your arrival/departure these days.

I just saw a Charlotte to honolulu for 645.00 RT. We would still have to do our interisland flights, but this seemed like a pretty good deal....
|
$645 is excellent. I'd jump on it. We paid ~$800 from Louisville this summer.

That sounds like a very good price to me. If you are flying thru Honolulu only to get to other island, at least on one of the legs try to make a connection directly from the airport (i.e., don't stay in Honolulu twice, but only at one or the other end of your trip). Either arriving or departing just connect without leaving the airport.
