Wow! Oahu blech! I wonder if he/she even got out of the airport or wore blinders if he/she did. Oahu is very special and offers the best of both worlds: big city bustle and pure Hawaii. I personally like the kitsch and touristyness (is there such a word?) of Waikiki, but I also like the beauty of the Windward side of the island and North Shore. Beautiful beaches, great restaurants, interesting museums and other terrific sights to visit like nowhere else, and best of all the Spirit of Aloha everywhere! I bet gordy doesn't even like Spam!

In regards to B&B's on Maui, only the ILLEGAL ones were shut down; there are B&B's that have the proper permits and are still operating.

offlady, I think that is what I said, isn't it?

"Haiku may not have the B and Bs it once had due to the crakcdown on ILLEGAL rentals and bed and breakfasts in Maui County. Research that carefully."
