Hawaii

Going to Waikiki & Maui middle of April for honeymoon and we have never been. We are 26 & 28, staying at Waikiki 3 nts & then Maui 3 nts. Please give suggestions on fun things to do, casual, yummy places to eat and any fun places for nightlife. We are staying on Waikiki (Hilton) and Four Seasons in Maui - but we are on a budget. Newlyweds from Dallas!

Fun things to do on Oahu:
Hike the inside of Diamond Head crater- Go early in the morning when it's cool. Its a short hike, and the vies at the top are wonderful.

Hanauma Bay for snorkling. Again, go very early if you will need to park. Otherwise take the bus. You can rent your gear there.

Drive around the island. Stop at Valley of the Temples just north of Kaneohe. There is a beautiful Japanese temple in the back of the valley beyond the cemetery.

Eats: For real Hawaiian food, go to Ono's on Kapahulu Ave, Prepare to wait in a short line unless you go early.

Rumfire, at the Sheraton, is a nice place to go for cocktails right at the beach. Get a window seat, listen to live music, buy good food & drinks at reduced happy hours prices and watch the sun go down.

Our fav restaurants in Waikiki: Dukes, Hula Grill, Sansei, Tonkatsu Ginza Bairin. The food courts in the malls are great for less expensive eateries.
Most of the restaurants near the 4 Seasons, Maui, are very expensive. For more reasonable prices drive a couple miles north into the town of Kehei. There you will find many restaurants that won't break your budget.
For night life on Waikiki walk through the main shopping district on Kalakaua Street. It is alive every night with street performers, crowds of happy people, and many rockin' places with food, drinks, and live music.

<< lcuy: Hanauma Bay for snorkling. >>

I would second this suggestion. However, when lcuy says early, it's like 7:00 early. We found out the hard way -- we got there at 9:00 and the line was several hours wait.
