Have 2 weeks- now what?

We will fly in and out of Seattle, with a 14 day stay. Other than a few days in Seattle, Vancover and Victoria, what would you recommend for a 2 week itinerary? We like to drive around, eat in great restaurants, love the wine country, mountains, sight seeing, etc. Want to relax and enjoy the great NW (we live in Fla). Whats the perfect 2 week trip?

Can't give you a full itinerary since I don't live in the area - but when we went to Vancouver for a weekend, we fit in Whistler B.C. for a night and wished we could have stayed longer. Beautiful!! Probably some wineries nearby - you might want to research. WE bought some B.C. wine and it was quite good! Have fun!

Don't know anything about the area. But, I like this website. I've used it for many other areas of the country.

www.byways.org

It lists and maps all National and other scenic byways in the entire country.

You will have lots of time to enjoy the beauty of Washington. I would suggest a drive over the North Cascades Hwy 20 with stops in Winthrop, and Lake Chelan for at least one night each. Venture down to the Yakima valley for some amazing wineries and come back through White Pass to Mt Rainier. These are amazing drives with lots of scenery. Since you enjoy good food I would recommend Sun Mountain Lodge in Winthrop as well as the Duck Brand. Yakima has some good restaurants such as the Barrel House and Greystone. Further down the valley into Prosser you can eat dinner on the weekends at Hinzerling winery. They are very friendly people and they love good food and wine. Enjoy your trip.

There are so many option. However, since you mention wineries, and great scenery, I suggest the following after visiting Seattle, Victoria (by way of the Olympic National Park, staying at Crescent Lake Lodge), and Vancouver.

Winthrop (Sun Mountain Lodge) via the North Cascade Highway (Route 2). Yakima valley for wineries via Grand Coulee Dam and the scenic stretch of Rt 144 between Electric City and Soap Lake (dinner at Gasperetti's in Yakima). Hood River via 97 and Highway 14 from Maryhill (winery and museum). Portland (many dining options). Then on to Cannon Beach and the fabulous Oregon Coast or back to Seattle via Mount St. Helens or Mt. Rainier.

Stating your destination would be a great way to get suggestions. I was ready to suggest how to spend two weeks thousands of miles from where u want to be.

Going in and out of Seattle with 2 weeks inbetween flights- is that not a destination enough? We will rent a car.

Is there any other Seattle except in the state of Washington? If so I would be interested in where, as I have never heard of any other. PatD, you are going to a beautiful area. Have a wonderful trip.

Seattle, Vancouver, Victoria on Vancouver Island, the North San Juan Islands, Portland etc. You have received some fantastic ideas here. Enjoy every moment of your trip.

Did anybody mention Cannon Beach, Oregon? There is not better place in the Northwest to spend a day or more.
