Hate it!

HATE the "new" website. Took me a long time to get to here. Don't know if I will remember again. Why "fix" what's not broken???

nytraveler Oct 20th, 2007 04:26 PM

Progress is never ending. Otherwise we would all still be in the eastern hemisphere, thinking the world is flat and we would fall off if we went too far west.

And it's not really TOO tricky - just click on Community.

now, now, relax. There are lots of good things about the changes -- and it is definitely easier on the eyes.

Except for a few folks who couldn't remember their password when they had to re-log on to the updated site - most don't seem to be having much trouble.

Sort of "got" it now but I'm old and change is hard esp without directions. Had to really search to figure out how to come up with the old "talk" bds. But, am not really "swift" about computer speak. Must just try to remember "community" which I think is a really silly, unmeaningful entre into the bulletin bds. "Talk" was so much more self explanatory. Oh, well. It is what it is and we'll go on. Just glad I figured it out bcs Fodors has been so helpful. No more whining, maybe!

whining is OK if it makes you feel better :)

I like it. And to me, the changes aren't major in the functionality. More to the look and feel of the site. Also easier to navigate IMO.

KTtravel Oct 20th, 2007 05:41 PM

I like the new look.

TMWeddle Oct 20th, 2007 05:46 PM

I don't understand why it took you a long time to get here. The new site came up for me just as the old one did as one of my bookmarks.

NewbE Oct 20th, 2007 06:33 PM

Yes, irish, you need to figure out how to add the Talk site to your list of favorites--in other words, bookmark it, so you can reach it with one click instead of navigating from Fodor's home page. When you are on the page for the forum you like, click on the "+" sign that should appear somewhere along the top margin of your web browser. Next time you return to your browswr, open the list of Favorites by clicking on it, and there it wil be.
(Specifics will vary depending on which browser you're using, but you get the idea.)

Hmm the reply box is new, too! I like the colors of the new headers. Frankly, I had no idea that the home page had changed, since I go months without looking at it.

Have someone who's computer savvy help you so you automatically open right into the forums section. You can make it almost the same as it used to be.

I never go in thru the mainpage myself.

I don't understand what there is to hate. Please elucidate.

They changed "community" back to "talk"... happy now?
:-)

peterboy Oct 25th, 2007 11:32 AM

There's a home page????

Ackislander Oct 26th, 2007 02:15 AM

i like it. I can now see the top of the page and use the search function without going through lots of maneuvers.

zlaor Oct 26th, 2007 09:46 AM

Change is the only constant ... get used to it :)
