Has your snow melted yet?

I heard today from my mom that the East Coast got hit with yet more snow...was this a surprise storm? My brother's flight to Florida yesterday was delayed a few hours. Is the snow melting away and do you think this will be your last snowfall of the season? (We've moved to the UK and saw only a few flakes the entire winter...friends back in the Lehigh Valley say they have had more than enough white stuff already.)

Fortunately, I have not seen snow since the "backside" of the Nor'Easter in early Dec '03 while in Montreal.

Where I am in New York, we got a good 3-4 inches of heavy, wet snow which caused delayed openings for the area schools. I think in a day or two at the most, it will all melt away. But it will definately leave soggy ground for those Easter egg hunters! I hope that this is the end of it - this year I am truly sick of the snow.

All gone down here in the valley but the mountains got over three feet the last couple of days...it' fun to look up and see it...very pretty but it's NOT in my yard..works for me!!!!

There's snow in the back on my patio where there is little sun. And it's where we have to pile it up when we shovel. Boston is expecting more snow, )so the weathercaster says) 6-12 inches.
I hope they have that wrong!!!

My son was lucky yesterday when he arrived at the Jax Fl airport, they told him flights were going to be delayed but if he hurried, he could get an earlier flight than he was booked on..he did and he arrived in NYC before the weather got really bad.
It was about 80 here today, wish I could send some warmth up North to you ((#))

Um, that forecast for 6 to 12 inches in Boston was *last night's* prediction -- we actually got less than an inch of slushy stuff here in the southern sector. Further inland, Worcester got a few inches. The storm that socked NY and NJ seems to have passed south of here.

At the moment, it's still well above freezing, but I still have 3-foot icebergs at the ends of my driveway and several inches on my shadier flowerbeds.

I sure wish you could send some warmth up here too!
In Toronto we had a snowfall last night. Not a bad one, but it seems bad because I'm so sick of it. I refuse to shovel any more this year. It can darn well melt....which it did on the driveway , anyway. And tomorrow is supposed to be much warmer , all the way up to 8C, so hopefully more of the dirty white stuff will melt.
The only problem is that my little white dog will now get all mucky till it all dries up.
Ahh, to be in Florida!

No. And no :(

Can't wait to hit Wally World (the one on the right coast ;) next month! :D

Yesterday was raining in some areas and snowing in others here in NJ.
Unfortunatly, I work in the rain area and have to drive 40 min northwest home in the snow area. It was so slippery because it was heavy and wet.
Took 40 min more to get home but made it safe and sound.
Today was a quick melt!
Thank goodness, I am so sick of it already!!!

We live in Florida. Our snow melted decades ago.

Patrick Mar 24th, 2005 06:29 PM

Yep, while I was taking my beach walk this morning in the 85 degree heat, I was noticing that all our snow seems to have melted here in Naples.

jersey Mar 24th, 2005 06:36 PM

Central NJ- no snow. Yippie!

(But its not 85 degress either)

Meesthare Mar 24th, 2005 06:51 PM

It snowed here in Toronto last night, as Kodi says. We went out around 6:30 PM and I couldn't decide whether to wear my boots or not. Ended up not. My black suede shoes don't look so good at this moment. But now it's all melted; the sidewalk is totally dry, and I'm beginning to think that spring will actually come this year.

Anonymous,
don't you hate that? Can anyone explain why my backyard that gets sun all day still has 6" of snow while my neighbors frontyard with the same aspect has no snow at all? - last nights 3" have already melted

joshwallace Mar 24th, 2005 07:57 PM

just got 8 inches in minneapolis last weekend

North of Boston - I have not seen my grass since November. The slush from yesterday has frozen into ice on my driveway. My daughter plays softball - season is supposed to start in 2 weeks, but fields are covered with snow, ice, slush and Canada geese.

Last I heard, NH ski areas expected to stay open until April 17. I can remember one June a few years ago when we went thru NH's White Mountains and there were lots of cars parked along the road. People were still skiing Tuckerman's Ravine. We still have about 1 1/2 feet in the yard but the dirt road is getting muddy. Maple season was about 3 weeks late starting. The winter to beat will be the one when some neighbors started shoveling off their flower beds so the spring bulbs could come up. This could be another spring like that. It's not unheard of to have a blizzard during the last week of April. Rare, but not unheard of.

"some neighbors started shoveling off their flower beds so the spring bulbs could come up"

Hey, I did that last week!

ParrotMom Mar 25th, 2005 04:23 AM

West of Boston......you mean there is grass under that white stuff!!!!

GBelle Mar 25th, 2005 05:06 AM

West of Boston
my lawn is still under 6" of snow. The 3' stone wall in the yard is starting to show the top. The patio is still white.
but the driveway is clear.

Vittrad Mar 25th, 2005 05:14 AM

It is snowing right now.

zootsi Mar 25th, 2005 07:17 AM

Central New Hampshire got about 5" the other day. We already had about 20" still on the ground. However, it's all melting slowly in the balmy 45 degree temps! Spring is more a state of mind up here than an actual season. We'll have lots of mud, sleet, rain, bugs and a little sun until June and then it's summer!

jor Mar 25th, 2005 07:35 AM

The glacier is receding a bit but is still four feet thick in the back yard.
