Has anyone used Priceline for top Hawaii resorts?
 

Have any of you had luck with using Priceline for 4-5 star resorts in Hawaii? I have never used the site before and wondered how your experiences were...I would be hoping for a Westin, Hyatt, Four Seasons type place). If you have used it, which resorts on which islands did you get? How exactly does it work -- were you happy with the results? Thinking about honeymooning in Hawaii (coming from the East Coast) next August, so I am trying to some up with different ways to possibly cut costs! Any help is greatly appreciated.

Go to biddingfortravel.com as mentioned above. Scroll down to Hawaii hotels, click that link desired island, then click on the first post. That gives you the hotel list that has been compiled and breaks it down by location and stars.

I was able to get the Hapuna Prince for $177/night with Hotwire. I was able to glean that info off betterbidding.com. Priceline had it showing up occasionally for $140-$160, but it also had in that same zone the Hilton Waikoloa which we were not at all interested in getting.

As others have said, go to biddingfortravel.com for Priceline info. They will list what hotels particpate & what the star levels are. You'll also be able to see what winning bids were for which hotels. They'll even help you construct a bid. The problem/downside with using Prieceline or Hotwire is you don't know what hotel you'll get so you have to be happy with ALL the hotels in a particular area/star group.

Betterbidding.com gives info for BOTH Priceline & Hotwire. I also suggested (on your other thread) checking luxurylink.com.

I too found it <b>very</b> confusing the first time I went there :) I think you may have to register first on ezboard.com which &quot;hosts&quot; the site, but I'll try to provide the link for the Maui hotel list. There are separate lists for Kauai/Big Island/Molaki and Oahu.

When you go on biddingforravel, scroll down to the hotel list. There are 3 areas for Hawaii. Only Maui and Oahu have separate lists. For you click on Maui and then click on the &quot;Maui Hotel List&quot; That will give you a list of hotels and their star rating. Going back to the topic list you'll find people who have won bids or who are asking for help with bids. If you want to post you have to register.

scroll down past the icons and down to Hawaii-Oahu and click on that. Then click on the hotel list to see what hotels are being used. Maybe you clicked on an icon at the top of the page, but ignore them and continue down the page. You don`t need to sign up for anything. Then you can just go over the the priceline site and bid on the info gleaned.

I would secure airfare First, so that you know the dates you need for your hotel. When using Priceline, remember you can't change ANYTHING. You buy it, if your bid is accepted. If you think your plans may change at all, it's sort of risky.
