Has anyone tried Continental Business First?
How did you rate it?

What was the service like?

Any other comments?

Thanks.

It Sucks!

Fly Delta anytime!

I flew it overseas and I really liked it. The staff was courteous and the service was great. There was plenty of room and the seats were very comfortable. However, that was the first and only time I haven't flown coach, so I don't really have anything to compare it to.

Flew it last year to Hawaii using miles to upgrade, plan to do the same this year. Have also flown their FC to Houston and New Orleans. I really liked the Hawaiian trip, good polite professional attendants, the food was good, little TV sets in the armrest of each seat, leather seats that reclined (big help coming back on the redeye), etc. The Houston and NOLA trip, the service was also excellent, food good on one and average on the other.

I have no experience with other airlines with the exception of Lufthansa business 10 years ago (fantastic) when we got upgraded due to overbooking.

Enjoy.

Continental has been the top rated US carrier for overseas flights several times in the past few years. The ratings have not been so favorable for domestic flights.
|
I've flown Continental a few times first class. It was fine. It is really nice overseas, and the domestic was fine. I think 1st class as a whole has changed alot over the last few years - but I think Continental is nicer than Northwest, about the same as American and US Air - they're all not bad!
|
One of the best!
|
I'd have to disagree with Joe. Continental's first class is far superior to Delta, primarily because of (a) newer planes, (b) nicer flight attendants, and (c) better on-time percentages. The food/beverage service is similar, although even here I'd give Continental a slight edge as the menu tends to be a little more creative.

[email protected] (not Buster) is a frustrated male flight attendant on Delta who wants to retire but can't because his stock options remain in the dumper.
He's just trying to snooker the unwary reader. He has Virgin envy.
|
Last time I flew Delta I was upgraded to first class. The plane (an L-1011) had horrible 70s seats and didn't smell very nice. The flight attendant was surly as she could be. In short, except for extra long room it was no big thing! My only other first class experience happened to be on Continental, where I was treated so well I didn't even mind the hour delay in Newark.
|
Flying domestic on that Delta trip Samuel?
That's one of my strong opinions. Domestic 1st class is often a big letdown. Not worth the bucks. But for free or with miles, I'll take it anytime.
|
Yes, GG, it was a short (90 min.) domestic flight. And in my post, I meant to say extra "LEG" room! :-)

I think it's nearly unanimous to most travelers: domestic first class is nice but only if you're upgraded. Not worth the money to pay for it!
|
Is the extra legroom and a grovelling Dolly bird worth the additional 2,000 Dollars?
|

No, Tom, you're right. I would never be able to justify spending hard-earned money for first class when I can beg for a bulkhead or exit-row seat in coach. BUT...after those miles start building up and extra upgrades become so inexpensive to acquire, it's irresistable. First class is REALLY first class, domestic or not.
