Has anyone stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott-Midtown East?
Hello-

We've never been to NY and we have reservations at the Courtyard by Marriott-Midtown East. I'd like to know if it is a good location for sight-seeing and if its a nice hotel. Thanks!

Cyndee,
Hi!
I've stayed at a Marriot Courtyard in the past a few times and it is very nice, clean, and friendly. As far as the one in NY, I can't say I've ever been.
Good Luck and have Fun!
Michelle Ward

I stayed there in Oct. Very nice (had a great view of the Chrysler Bldg from our room) and a good location near bus and subway. Buy a Metrocard so you don't need to worry about having exact change. (Cards are available at subway stops.) You will be fairly close to the UN.

It's an excellent location on West 40th St., between 6th & 7th Aves. Convenient to Times Square, Fifth Ave., Macy's, Empire State Building, etc.
And, as a previous poster said, Courtyards are consistently decent properties across the country.

I haven't stayed there but last year a poster in this forum requested comparative info between that Courtyard and some other NY hotel. They posted back after their trip with a glowing post-trip report about the Courtyard and the location. I've stayed in Courtyard's on a number of locations and actually prefer them to Marriot's (call me crazy but I do - I think they're a much better value and just as comfortable, not to mentio that they usually have free coffee and cookies in the lobby!)

Howard,
Why is it called Marriott Midtown EAST if it is on the west side?
|
Ooops, xxx is right. I was writing about the Courtyard by Marriott Manhattan/Times Square. Sorry! The Midtown East one is on Third Ave. in the East 50ths. Both are good properties and good locations. I'd say the first one has a slightly more convenient location, but both are in good central spots.
