Has anyone stayed at The Benjamin Hotel, NYC lately?
 

Our 'go to' place, the Beacon, is not available for our dates. I found a good rate on Oyster for a room at the Benjamin that would accommodate 3 people but I don't have first hand knowledge of this hotel. I've read the reviews, looked at the photos, checked google maps, etc., but was hoping for a firsthand, recent report.

Any feedback about The Benjamin? It isn't mentioned too often here.

It's a nice hotel in a really great location (so long as you want to be on the east side). Some rooms have kitchenettes.

Yes. Thanks vjpblovesitaly. As I said, I read the reviews. I did write that I was looking for first hand accounts. Have you stayed there?

Thanks Doug_Stallings! I'm not sure it matters where we land; we're 3 so it's a bit of a challenge to find a suitable room. This hotel looks good on paper; I'm curious about its atmosphere,tone, vibe, etc.

Many of the reviews on Trip Advisor are 'one offs' and written on the day they joined TA. I just don't give much credence to those types of reviews. I had read those reviews earlier; but thanks anyway for the link.

I've toured the hotel as well as the spa. Both are nice, but I haven't stayed there, so I don't know the "vibe" very well. I did notice aromatheraphy and not horrible music in the lobby. They're trying for something urban and chic but not as hip as, say, The Standard.

The hotel has some really spectacular rooms, including some top-end suites with balconies. It's an older hotel that's been thoroughly rehabbed, so the rooms aren't all uniform, but they are nice sized ... not teeny, though some are on the small side. It was originally developed as a higher-end business hotel by the Affinia Group, but they sold it (or at least no longer manage it).
