The Inn outside the park limits is a regular hotel. I have not been in it, so can't comment on it.
The cabins inside the park are separate. They are fairly old. We stayed in one in August 2011, the Honeymooner's Cabin, they called it. It was quite small, had a bed, coffeemaker, bathroom with shower stall. Not in the least luxurious but had everything one needed. And the view was priceless. We wouldn't hesitate to go back.
I understand they are upgrading the cabins now, though, to be more modern.

I have stayed at the Badlands Inn and would do so again. Location, location, location. You feel as if you are staying in the park. The views are amazing. The rooms are simple and clean. I recall breakfast being included.
