We have stayed at the Inn at Cape kiwanda and liked it very much! it is central on the coast to all of the places you might like to drive too. I think it would be a very good place to storm watch. Cape Kiwanda is away from all the business of Lincoln City-I know you will like it!

I have lived in Oregon all my life and have been to the coast an endless amount of times. I don't like Pacific City area. If much of the coast is a 10 then I'd rate PC area about a 3 or 4. It's just not scenic when you compare it to places such as Cannon Beach, Neskowin,Depoe Bay, Newport, Yachats, Florence & Bandon.

Just so you have a third opinion. Though I have not stayed at the Inn, I would disagree that Pacific City is a 3 or 4. It is a small rural town, but the bay where they put the dories in is very lovely as is the drive both north and south. One of the great things about the Oregon coast is there is a fair variety as you travel along.

The Overleaf in Yachats is nice and in a good location. It's about 4 or 5 years old and the Yachats trail over the rocks is right out the door. Yachats is far more scenic than Pacific City. IMO Pacific City is as scenic as Rockaway Beach (which is also low on the scenic scale for Oregon).

Ok Marian we get it you don't like Pacific City - I like it a lot because most tourists don't make it there and watching the dories is terrific. It's got some cool little stores and because of the low tourist count the people are really nice. Remember the old adgae - comparisons are odious - each spot on the Oregon is special and unique - it doesn't mean there is a best or worst place on the coats.
