Has anyone been to Carowinds Amusement Park?
We are planning a family trip at the end of June or beginning of July.

Hotel recommendations, beaches (within a few hours drive), and opinions on the park would be appreciated. Thanks!

Fairly fun amusement park, as amusement parks go. Equal amounts of entertainment for children and adults if the adults like rides and kids aren't too young. Carnival games and a couple of shows remind me of a county fair. The water park in the summer is fun. Not Busch Gardens, Williamsburg or Six Flags, GA but fun.

Carowinds is a decent amusement park- it has a nice mix of rides for all ages. The Comfort Inn is adjacent to the property. Rooms are clean, and the limited breakfast buffet is handy when you're heading over to the park. My personal preference for parks is Six Flags/ATL, but if you're in Carowinds country, it's not a bad vacation stop.

Carowinds was great - and I'm from Atlanta. It was much cleaner than Six Flags and it has a neat water area. Don't miss The Hurler - a great Wayne's World themed wooden coaster. Have a great time!

Where is this place? We'll be in MB South Carolina and my boys love waterparks. Is it anywhere near there?

Take I-77 to Exit 90 at the North Carolina/South Carolina border. The Park is just 15 minutes south of Uptown Charlotte and 15 minutes north of Rock Hill, SC. These directions are posted at the attraction's web site, www.carowinds.com.

Thanks RB! Talk about a quick response!

Nina,

I'm not sure it's worth the drive from MB. Like most things here in Charlotte, we like it, but certainly wouldn't recommend anyone drive out of their way to visit.

Hope all is well with you.
