...Has anyone been Married by Elvis in Vegas?

We are thinking about going to Vegas for our 20th wedding anniversary and I was thinking it would be fun to renew our vows by Elvis. I saw a lot of chapel packages last night online and wonder if anyone has any experience with this?

I want it to be a surprise and very fun and tacky.

One Elvis picks you up in his Pink 50's Cadillac and marries you out by the Las Vegas sign. (and sings).

Anyone?

:)

There are no tacky Fodorites out
there? ;)

yotefan37 Jan 9th, 2007 05:49 PM

OK - I'll bite. Guilty as charged on the tacky front...

My DH and I got married in Vegas at the Little White Chapel (you know, the one with the drive-thru weddings, where Michael Jordan and Britney Spears got married, but not to each other). ;)

Elvis did not officiate, but I can tell you they were absolutely great there. Of course, we did run in to Elvis in the chapel, and heard him performing a ceremony...my DH said he was watching Elvis hitting on the brides while we were waiting our turn! :)

Anyways, as tacky and fun as it was, they really did take very good care of us - highly recommended!

Hope that helps, and make sure you add a velvet painting to the gift registry!

...Thank You, Thank you very much! ;)

I want to make it fun and totally
a surprise.

On our last trip to Vegas, we went to a Cuban restaurant at a Ho Jo's (after leaving our room at the Bellagio) and an Elvis was performing a wedding at the Ho Jo's...it was...so...tacky, and
"Vegas,baby"...we laughed.

I want something like that...only not
at a Ho Jo's!

:)

Ps. to the women who want a second
chance on their wedding:

I hated my bouquet on my wedding
day- but never said a word. I was
a wimp. I am thinking of doing my
dream bouquet and having it delivered
to the chapel...sort of a "do over"
after 20 years! It's my chance as
a Woman of maturity to get what she
wants with a bit of Elvis for good
measure!

I don't want to ruin your anniversary but the rumor is that Elvis has passed away :(

The King is dead, long live the King!

Have fun ;)

We got our vows renewed on our 10th by Elvis, and we loved it. We did it in a place that no longer exists (the old strip mall were the Hawaiian Marketplace is now), but I'm sure there are lots of places to do it.

No, only robbed by a Superman in Hollywood.

beachkomer Jan 10th, 2007 04:34 PM

I've found a few packages, and the 'best' one so far is a limo ride
to the chapel, Elvis walks me down the
isle (and sings 2 songs) and we
renew our vows...and a limo trip back
to the strip.

We talked last night about where to eat and he seemed really excited about
the Eiffel Tower restaurant. I know it's pricey but since I have been planning everything, I want him to be
involved in some decisions! (isn't that a nice wife?? ;)

Thanks for the replies!

A friend of mine had an Elvis wedding. Elvis walked her down the aisle, playing the guitar and singing, "Love Me Tender." When they reached the alter, the minister asked who gives away the bride. Elvis said, "Uh me, Elvis Presley."

Throughout the ceremony Elvis stood by the couple in a typical Elvis stance, slightly jiggling his hips. At the end of the ceremony, the minister said, "In the presence of God, your family, and the King of Rock 'n Roll, I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may kiss the bride." Afterward they sat down and Elvis sang a few songs.

I watched this wedding video and it was a hoot!! And it's OK to laugh because this couple has a great sense of humor. :-))

It sounds Perfect for us!

Thanks for the wedding report,
that was just what I was looking
for, and sounds like the package
that I settled on!

We renewed our vows at the Viva Las Vegas Wedding chapel 3 years ago--Elvis was a little scrawnier than in days of old, but sang "Hawiian Wedding Song" as I walked down the aisle (DH's choice from a list). He was officiant. Then we posed with him for photos and they put our names on a jumbotron outside the chapel, where we posed with Elvis for more photos.

Totally fun--we had more than a dozen friends hamming it up with us. We didn't do a package and I think it was about $250. I found it on the Web.

Have fun--it's always nice to make your marriage official in the eyes of the King.

I love it, I wonder if I can request
Elvis circa 1958? Ha.

Sounds fun!!

We celebrated my parents' 25th wedding anniversary at the Viva Las Vegas wedding chapel as well (http://www.vivalasvegasweddings.com/) and we got a $600 package (at the time, it was 6 years ago) that included a white stretch limo that picks you up at your hotel, a wedding that is broadcasted over the internet, and a 20-30 min Elvis themed wedding ceremony where elvis sings 3 or so songs. We all enjoyed it - I just wish I knew ahead of time that the wedding was broadcasted over the internet!

beachkomer Jan 23rd, 2007 06:18 PM

WoW!! so, I could tell people to log on and view our renewal ceremony??!

How cool is that?

$600 is a bit more than I wanted to spend---that's about 4 dinners...ha.

I found one for $199 that included a
limo...I might do that one!

Afterall, we are already married!

Thanks for the great review!

A few years ago a friend of mine got married in Vegas to her boyfriend who was here on an expired Visa...you get the idea. I was the maid of honor...and let me tell you that it was QUITE the experience! Elvis walked down the aisle to "Fools Rush In" and the rest is a blur. My friend had the whole thing videotaped and there was cake and celebrity pictures on the wall of famous people who had been married there--it seriously was out of a movie.

We ate at Top of the World restaurant in the Stratosphere afterwards which actually has an amazing view (this was the best part of the whole day, LOL). Anyways, there are all kinds of packages for this sort of thing in Vegas, you should have no trouble at all finding someone to do it. If you want it to be very tacky then definitely do it at one of the Vegas Chapels rather than at a hotel.

beachkomer Jan 24th, 2007 08:55 AM

Oh for sure a tacky place, after all
we already got 'hitched!

I want it to be a hoot!

:)

beachkomer Mar 8th, 2007 07:25 PM

Well, I booked our renewal of our vows
tonight with Elvis at the Graceland chapel in May.

I hope it's fun!

Viva Las Vegas!

I will write a trip report.

I need to decide where we should dine
afterwards....

beachkomer May 12th, 2007 06:16 PM

The plans are all in place! The limo
picks us up at 6:30, service at 7. I have a bouquet design that they are making for me,I am so excited! Elvis is going to do the ceremony too!

I will do a trip report! :)

P_M May 12th, 2007 06:18 PM

Hey beachkomer, many congrats!! Please post a link to your report on this thread. I can't wait to read it. :-D

trippinkpj May 12th, 2007 07:13 PM

Yes, I can't wait either. I'm trying to talk DH into renewing our vows next month when we're there. ;-)
