Has anybody visited the "ground zero workshop"?
I read some very positive reviews of this place on TripAdvisor, and I'm now considering adding it to our NYC itinerary. Has anybody been to it or heard anything about it? I'm just wondering if it is worthwhile. We'd like to do something related to 9/11, but staring at a construction site probably won't do much for me.

Visit the visitor's center near the site - It is run as a true non-profit by the families and people who worked at the site - This is the place you need to visit

My husband and I went to the workshop. It was interesting but I would go to the visitor's center and St. Paul's Chapel first. They are near the site and we thought they gave a better overview of what happened on 9/11.

Take a tour from the Tribute Center http://www.tributewtc.org/walktours/index.php

Thanks. I just looked at the tribute center website, and it looks like what I was looking for. We'll try to do it.

Hi Kansas
Definitely go visit Ground Zero Museum Workshop (http://www.GroundZeroMuseum.com) as they are a bonified IRS 501c3 Charity that posts all it's charitable donations to 9-11 charities on the internet, and the tour was utterly incredible. We spent 2 hours there but could have spent more listening to all the 100 stories in the audio units. It's a must see. Also please go to St paul's Chapel at Ground Zero. |
Well, my trip to NYC was in July, and we didn't get to it. I'll put it on my itinerary for my return trip though!

For anyone considering a trip to mark 9/11, I highly recommend a visit to St Paul's Chapel right across from the WTC site. There is a brief service at 12:30 each day offering prayers for reconciliation and peace. There are also a series of bells rung to honor firefighters.
This chapel housed resuce workers in the wake of 9/11. For years we were at a loss as how to visit the WTC area in a respectful fashion. This chapel, its display called "Unwavering Spirit" and the prayer service seemed just right. |
