Has any one stayed at Murry Hill Inn NYC?
We will be making our first trip to NYC the end of Oct. I like the description of Murry Hill Inn and location seems ok? Any first hand advice?

Did not actually stay there, but checked the rooms for visiting friends. The Murray Hill Inn is in a renovated pre-WWII apartment building. Dorm-ish rooms, some even have bunk beds, no views. Many student-looking travelers. The area is fine, with plenty of restaurants. I don't know what kind of prices they are asking now, but I suspect you could get a deal at a better hotel for about the same price.

I don't know the hotel aj, but based on the address (30th betw lex & 3rd) & ellenem's description, I'd pick something else. In that general area, have a look at the Park South hotel at 122 east 28th. I believe someone here has posted positive things about this place. Try a text search.
Another idea ist On the Avenue on the upper west side. They were having a special with midweek rates of $119. Check quikbbook.com also. |
OK--to be fair I went and checked Murray Hill Inn's website. It looks like either they fixed up some rooms more. On the other hand, the picture of the sofa shows the entire lobby. Lobbies mean little to me, but keep it in mind if it's important to you. They say "European style" and offer some rooms with shared bath--that's up to you. I keep hearing on this forum about good prices at what I would consider better hotels...

Thank you one and all! I will still keep Murry Hill Inn in mind but will continue to check other hotels. The web site did look ok but you never know until you have been there!
