Hartford, Connecticut

My boyfriend will be spending 3 days in Hartford, Connecticut on business. Can anybody suggest any good restaurants for under $50?
Thanks in advance!

There used to be a restaurant there called The Last National Bank. It was set in an old bank office, complete with vault. Good food and lots of fun. While in Hartford, you might enjoy visiting the Hartford Athenaeum. Quite a remarkable collection of American art, including some paintings that are world-famous. It's a pleasant city for walking. And the surrounding countryside is very beautiful. Mark Twain's home is worth a visit, just to see how Victorians lived.

Unfortunately the Last National Bank restaurant no longer exists. There are many small restaurants near the Civic Center that have good food. Two of these are No Fish Today and Max Downtown (a little expensive but interesting food). I would also recommend the Wadsworth Atheneum for art and the Mark Twain House for history. If you like colonial architecture go to old Wethersfield. For theater and music check the local paper when you arrive. There are always things going on in the summer at the Meadows and most of the rest of the year at the Hartford Stage Company or the Bushnell Auditorium.
E-mail me if you want more specific info. I work in Hartford.

I have to agree. If one enjoys victorian architecture, then Wethersfield is the way to go. This is my home town and there are many beautiful and historic homes to see in this town. This is the oldest town in Connecticut. The Webb-Deane-Stevens museum offers tours and there is also a gallery called the Keeney Center across the street from there. If he is feeling hungry then a great pizza or grinder at Village Pizza or a formal dinner at the Village Tavern is always a good choice.
