Harrington Hotel, Washington D.C.
 

I have booked two nights in late April for a family trip to D.C.. Will my wife divorce me for selecting the harrington, or will it be suitable for our tourist stay.

well, who knows, we don't know her standards for hotels or spouses. If you have to ask, the answer is probably yes.

If she's at all particular, I'd be concerned. The only thing it has going for it is location. Beyond that, it's old and uninteresting. There has to be a better deal.

Don't worry.We stayed at the Harrington last Sept.Great location,two blocks from the Mall,steps away from Ford's theatre and the FBI if you like your safety.We had a renovated large room with all amenities so what do you need more. You only need the room for a shower and a good night sleep because you will be on the road visiting all the time.Paul

I have to agree w/ Christina. Without knowing your wife, it's very tough to say.

Many people love the Harrington because it's dirt cheap (for DC) and has an extremely central location.

Many other people (perhaps who gotten unrenovated rooms?) have nothing nice to say about it. This is especially true from people who don't travel to large cities often. They know that, "back home", $150 gets puts them in the lap of luxury, whereas in DC you get a double bed in a VERY basic room.

The bottom line, though, is that you're not going to find much else at that price point in central DC. Maybe the Red Roof Inn Chinatown - which I would say is similar in location, price, and level of (non) luxury.
