Harrah's or Sahara ???
My family and I are planning to spend Christmas in Las Vegas this year. Four adults and a 13 yr. old boy. I have been to Las Vegas several times, but haven't been there in over a year.

Has anyone stayed at the New Sahara or Harrahs? They you give me your opinion of the new hotels. Sahara is about $20 a night cheaper than Harrahs for the time we want to go.

Why not repost your question on www.lvol.com? Go to the discussion board (phorum, it's called) - I'm sure you'll find people who have stayed at each recently...have a good time...(those are lower case "L"s in the address, not "ones".)

Judy had an excellent suggestion regarding the lvol.com discussion board. Harrahs is located in a nicer area than the Sahara.

Sahara can use whatever kind of PR terminology they want to "New Sahara", "Renovated Sahara", "Give Us Another Chance Sahara" but the fact remains that it's a dumpy hotel in a bad part of the strip and it just doesn't stack up against the competition.
You've got to be able to find a decent deal farther south at Christmas time. Keep looking, check for packages, call room consolidators, etc.

Too many reports indicate that the Sahara employees are not helpful or friendly which makes for a very unpleasant stay. It's a so-so place to visit, but you can do much, much better for an all-around great Las Vegas vacation.

Harrah's location is very good, but since you have a 13-year old with you, check out Treasure Island. Great rooms, service, and lots to do for both adults and your 13-year old. Excellent location, and right next door to Mirage via the free tram and then on to Caesars for the Forum Shops. One other option might be the MGM -- it's huge but something for everybody and has a free monorail to Bally's.
