Harrah's is coming to San Diego??

My husband was recently in California and said he saw billboards advertising that Harrah's was coming to San Diego in August. We're planning to visit San Diego in September...anyone know what this is about? Is this a Riverboat (guess I should say oceanboat)?? Thanks, Carrie

They're operating a casino on one of the local indian reservations.

Sounds like fun...saves us going to L.V.! Good to hear. Carrie

the indian casinos take some getting use to. you don't hear any money dropping...it's just not the same atmosphere.

I live in So. California now and saw the billboards as well. Is Harrah's going to take over the one that is now called Pala (Indian Casino)??

Harrah's funded the new hotel/casino resort, the Rincon Band of Indians own and run it. The new casino opens on 8/8 and it looks beautiful so far! Pala is a another casino about 6 miles west of Harrah's and they will be building a hotel soon.

Hotel and Casino open August 8th. I already got my offer for 2 free nights.
Smoking is allowed but you have to pay for your drinks in the casino. Nice to have a place to go closer to home where I don't have to worry about driving after a few drinks and gambling.

Congratulations Monique for getting 2 free nights...Is this something that was just sent to residents of San Diego? I live in So. Orange County and I haven't gotten anything...although I do have a Rewards Card from Lake Tahoe Harrah's. Is this casino closer to Orange County than Pala is?? Kristi

Hi Kristi,
Pala is the first casino that you "hit" on hwy 76, then Casino Pauma, then Harrah's, then Valley View casino..... It's the north county version of the strip! ;-)

I am platinum at Harrahs and Rio in Vegas. It said based on my play at Rio. Not sure if it is just for platinum and diamond? But I hope they have some double point days. Would get me in there just to try hard to make Diamond.

Where is the exact location of Harrah's in SD? Is the casino in the city or on the outskirts of town? I travel to SD quite frequently for R&R and I may want to check this place out.

Sue Jul 10th, 2002 08:39 PM

It depends on where you're coming from, of course, but simply, take hwy 76 to Valley Center Rd. It's on the right about 5 miles. There's a map on Harrah's website. Hope that helps!
