Does he like spicy? If so, he might like the "wicked" hot chocolate at Jacques Torres. I love it, my DD hates it.
|
sf7307, I've been meaning to try Maida Heater's recipe for spicy brownies. You just gave me an excuse.

Problem with Weeksville is it is a long trip but much more doable than Maple Sugaring and more relevant. By the Tenement Museum try The Meatball Shop and El laboratorio del Gelato. You will not find much African American at the Tenement Museum but it does have an important historical story to tell. You should also check programming at the Museum of the City of NY mcny.org and El Barrio Museum www.elbario.org
I would also see if there is an open to the public day at the Tolerance Center when you are here: http://www.wiesenthal.com/site/pp.as...JLnF&b=4441265 AND last but not least, take a United Nations tour. |
United Nations tour sounds like a good idea--if I don't do one at my conference, we can do one when he comes up.
We're beginning to run out of days in our week! |
I do not often disagree with my friend Sue, but I found the UN tour to be an exercise in somnambulism. This would be especially true for a nine year old who could not discern between their great humanitarian efforts and their political impotence.
Sorry Sue. |
I actually haven't been on a UN tour in ages but my Road Scholar group of grandparents and 10-12 year olds raved about it. I was reconnecting with someone I knew from elementary school who has worked at the UN for 30 someodd years.
|
I took my daughter to the UN during the summer between fourth and fifth grade and she really enjoyed it.

I suppose a big part of how we determine which of these many activities we'll do is by reading up on them--some non-fiction, some fiction involving them--and I'll see what my son is most interested in.

Aduchamp, I'm curious. Does the "Adu" part of your handle here mean that you ate originally from Ghana?
|
Sorry Saac, it is not remotely interesting as immigrating from Ghana.
It is a variation on the artist Marcel Duchamp. My first choices were taken a hundred years ago when I first joined AOL. And then I accidently hit the send button before making a final decision but I kept it all these years any how. |
