Harlem 138th St NY, Sunday visit question

My friends asked me to meet them Sunday morning for a Church mass. Do you think it would be safe enough for me (female, 40s) to travel on the subway there on my own to meet them? I don't know the area at all.

Thanks for any info.

Yes, that area is gentrified and yuppiefied to death.

thanks, I thought that might be true from what I've read, but don't know the area.

Do you remember when Disney first came into Times Square? Similar thing happened when Clinton opened his office in Harlem on 125th Street.

I've read articles about the Harlem brownstones being bought up and renovated.

Times Square is 180 degrees from when I first saw it in the late 80s, that's for sure. Disney is about as far away from what is was as it could get. Sort of a bizarro world situation.
