Handy Map for D.C.?

Can anyone recommend a good pocket map of D.C. that clearly shows the main points of interest?
Thanks,
Bob

Our local bookstore is selling laminated maps of various major cities - they are trifold and, while not pocket size, end up about 5x11 inches - have found them to be more useful than folding and refolding a paper map that gets torn and useless in my pocket soon.

There are lots of good ones at your local bookstore or Amazon.com (Eyewitness, Streetwise, Insight Flexi Map, etc.).

Here's the best of the best, however:

I'd suggest a bookstore whose initials are B & N. they have laminated maps that are compact (map size) and then they can be pulled out and viewed. I like the protection of lamination as maps can be damaged easily with all the food and drink you'll be walking with.

Thanks for the recommendation, bardo. The national geographic map looks great! Now if I can only decide what all to see thats on the map!

They will send you a free visitor booklet(about 3x5).It has a nice map of the city with all the sites marked. It also has a metro guide.I have used this map twice and have been very happy with it.

We never found just one map that took care of all our needs. The ones that showed the monuments and sights didn't show metro stations, the metro map didn't show sights very well, some didn't go out far enough. We used the Smithsonian map, large print metro map and Frommers map to cover all. Good luck. As for the visitor guide, good luck. We requested one and received the winter/spring edition for our Aug trip. We told them when we were going and tried this five times and got the old edition each time. When we got back home, the new one was in our mail!!!
