Hamptons Questions

Going to Hamptons for 4th of July week.
Have never been and don't know much about it. Just a few questions...
1) Should we bring our bikes?
2) Can you drink alcoholic beverages on the
beach?
3) Can you make a fire on the beach?
Thanks for your help!

Which area of the Hamptons, which is like 60 miles long from West to Montauk? Without knowing ...

1. Maybe
2. Put it in a non-glass cup
3. Depends

Forgot to mention, your biggest worry may be parking. Most beaches allow parking by permit only, and permits are incredibly expensive for non-residents.

The hotel or motel you're staying in should be able to give you a temporary permit for the town they are in. You can also go to one of the parks - Hither Hills or Montauk Lighthouse. Otherwise most of the beach is either private property (of the VERY wealthy) or for town residents only. You can't simply walk on anyone's beach - although you can swim through the water outside the beach.

One other point. don;t forget this is the north Atlantic - and the water can be VERY rough with riptides. Unless there is a lifequard - or you're an excellent (think Olympic) swimmer - be very careful how far into the water you go.

I'm not aware of anywhere on the beach where fires are encouraged.

Staying at either Hermitage in Amagansett or Ocean Beach in Montauk so parking shouldn't be an issue.
Traveling with 2 kids, 4 and 7, so won't be out in the ocean very far....just far enough to get a little wav to boogie board.
We are used to the Atlantic...live in Jersey.
Any thoughts on these two motels?
