hamptons last minute hotel or B&B?

Any suggestions for a moderate priced B&B or hotel in the Hamptons for this weekend?

Thanks.

Extremely unlikely there is anything available at this point - never mind moderately priced. July is high season and prices are $$$. If you have a car and can go as far as Montauk you may have more luck. You may have more luck if you can add an extra night - Thursday or Monday.

I would google the East End town web sites and start calling the whole list ASAP.

price is all relative... so what is moderatly priced to you? $150? $200 a night?

I'd type in 11954 as the zip code in the yellow pages and start calling. You can check Royal Atlantic, Atlantic Terrace, etc.

Good luck!

thanks for the good tips. I'm helping out some friends from Europe who are in town for 2 weeks -- they wanted to see the Hamptons. I'm not too sure how much they'd be willing to spend, but I had an idea that the situation might be tight and pricey this time of years.

Plus - they MUST rent a car. You can get TO the Hamptons easily enough without one. But once you're there you're completely stuck unless staying with a host who will lend you one.

they ended up finding a place in Montauk for the weekend. They're not sure if they're going to rent a car or not to get there. I do know there's the jitney and LIRR that both go there, and once they're there, shouldn't they be able to enjoy Montauk without a car?

They may be able to manage without a car if they find accomodations in town. There are a few cab companies such as pink cabs and celtic cabs for the occasional trip outside of town. If they are staying outside the town proper, Old Montauk Hgwy for instance, it will be much more difficult to be without a car.

Unless all you want to do is sit on one patch of beach it's hard to do without a car. They would need a cab to get to almost any restuaruant, nightspot or sight they wanted to see,

Buyer beware, some of the motels in Montauk are dumps--and still charge $250 and up a night. Check tripadvisor. If available (unlikely), The Driftwood (Duneresorts.com) and the Beachcomber are worth the extra money. Beachcomber is walking distance to town.
